讲座介绍:
Photonics has been well heralded as a key technical platform the modern information technologies ranging from imaging, information storage and communications. However, the conventional photonics has been constantly challenged as it has reached its physical limit imposed by nonlinear effects. Recently, nanophotonics harnesses light’s interaction with materials at the nanoscale including the generation of nanoscale optical probes and the interaction with nanocomposite materials, offering bottom-up new approaches far superior to the conventional technology. In this regard, nanophotonics has emerged as a major propellant for the next generation of information technologies with ultra-high capacity and ultra-high throughput. In particular, the wavefront manipulation of vector beams emerges as a frontier in tailoring light’s interaction with material at the nanoscale and opens new perspective for next generation information technologies. In this talk, we present the recent development of nanophotonic techniques based on the wavefront manipulation of vector beams to address the capacity bottleneck issues confronting the current optical data storage as well as ultra-wide viewing angle naked eye 3D displays.
讲座人简介:
Dr. Xiangping Li graduated from the Centre for Micro-Photonics, Swinburne University of Technology in 2009. His research interests over the nanophotonics for ultrahigh capacity optical storage, multi-dimensional optical recording, three-dimensional display and graphene photonics. He has invented the world’s first three-dimensional polarization-encrypted optical storage and expanded the principle of stimulated emission depletion method into the superresolution optical recording, which has set up a new world’s record in storage capacity up to 1 Petabyte per dvd sized disc. Dr. Li is also a recipient of numerous competitive awards including ARC APD fellow in 2011, Victoria Fellowship in 2013, ARC DECRA fellow in 2014 and China’s Young 1000 talent in 2015. In 2015, he joined the Institute of Photonics Technology in Jinan University and set up a new team working on the nanophotonic devices.
